Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship

Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching young Canadians about creating a brighter future for themselves and their communities. In partnership with businesses and post-secondary institutions, ACE delivers two programs on forty-nine university and college campuses across Canada. One program, Students in Free Enterprise, is team-based, while the other, Student Entrepreneur, is individual. Nova Scotia campuses where ACE programs are delivered include Acadia University, Dalhousie University, St. Francis Xavier University, Saint Mary’s University, and the Université Sainte-Anne.

Canadian Foundation for Economic Education

The Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE) aims to identify and help impart the fundamental concepts of economics, enterprise, entrepreneurship, and personal finance that must be factored into the decisions and actions we face in our day-to-day lives. CFEE develops school curriculums and helps teachers improve their knowledge and teaching techniques, as well as producing print and multimedia resources for use in classrooms across the country. The CFEE works at all levels of learning, from elementary to college to the general public.

Cape Breton YMCA Entrepreneur Centre

The Cape Breton YMCA Entrepreneur Centre offers entrepreneurial training in the form of the Business Plan Development Program. Clients of the program learn how to recognize business opportunities, do market research, study the competition and do financial planning. Entrepreneurial Skills Program

The Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CEED), in conjunction with Dalhousie University and Mount Saint Vincent University, offers a certificate program designed to enhance the entrepreneurial opportunities available to all students within the participating universities. Through the Entrepreneurial Skills Program (ESP), students in any faculty have an opportunity to combine the ESP certificate with their regular degree program.

Students will be provided with individualized support as they go through the program. This support will be based on CEED’s approach to entrepreneurship education that includes mentoring, experiential activities, planning, peer-group work, and specific knowledge.

Immigrant Business Development Services

The Metropolitan Immigrant Settlement Society (MISA) offers several programs designed to help newcomers adapt to living in Canada and enter the business climate, including Immigrant Business Development Services (IBDS).

IBDS gives participants the information, contacts and confidence newcomers need to establish and maintain a business in Nova Scotia. They provide a range of services for clients at difference stages of business development.
